You can't help but crave the sweet goodness of chocolate or sugar every now and then. It's in times like these that healthy, low-calorie snacks are necessary. Avoiding junk food like candy bars and unhealthy snacks can keep you on track for your weight loss plan. If you're looking for something to cure that sweet tooth, consider these healthy and low-calorie snacks. 

Watermelon
Because watermelon is 92 percent water, it'll give you what you're looking for in the sweets department while the water makes you feel fuller. The fruit is rich in vitamin C and contains less than 100 calories per cup. This means you can snack on a large wedge without losing focus on slimming your belly. 

Fruit and yogurt parfait
Combine two healthy snacks into one with a fruit and yogurt parfait. While out and about or at work, you may forget to eat lunch, so munching on a parfait will get something in your stomach without being packed full of calories. Throw some strawberries, raspberries and blueberries in with your favorite Greek yogurt, and you'll be enjoying the benefits of great vitamins and calcium as well as digestive-helping probiotics.

Egg whites
If you're spending the weekend relaxing at home and need something to hold you over between meals, cook up some egg whites. The protein in egg whites will have you on your way to a slimmer belly - each egg whites only has 17 calories. The protein will help to fill you up and you can opt for serving them boiled, scrambled or in an omelet with your favorite vegetables. 

Grapefruit
A favorite snack among weight loss gurus is the grapefruit. Slices will make a great midday snack or, if you aren't too fond of them on their own, throw them in with a salad. Since one large grapefruit contains about 120 calories, this is one snack you can binge on without being thrown off track. If you're heading out in the sun, this fruit also provides a bonus of protection from the sun's rays with vitamin C and lycopene. 

Water
Our good friend H2O is always a great option to fill us up without packing on the pounds. Water will not only keep you hydrated but it'll also help to fill you up. If you aren't a fan of plain water, try some fruit-infused water recipes for added flavor.
