Weight loss nutrition and dining out: Your best and worst options

When it comes to dining out, not all menu options are going to work well with your green coffee diet.
When it comes to dining out, not all menu options are going to work well with your green coffee diet.

We all know that one of the pillars of a weight loss plan is sticking to whole, healthy foods that are often prepared at home. However, it's tough to have a social life if you are always staying at home and cooking meals.

There are going to be some days when you meet up with friends for lunch, enjoy a candlelight dinner with your date, or simply relax and enjoy a professional preparing your family's meal for you. Keep in mind that it is perfectly fine to indulge in a nice restaurant meal every once in a while if you are sticking to your garcinia cambogia extract. However, there are some eateries that are simply better for you to choose from than others in terms of fat and calories.

CNN highlighted some of the best and worst meal options at restaurants, so keep these hints in mind next time your server comes to your table to take your order.

Breakfast
The good: Panera Bread's "breakfast power" sandwich came out on top in terms of a morning meal. The menu item is served on whole grain bread and contains just 340 calories, a sensible amount for any breakfast. There was also more fiber in the breakfast power sandwich than you would typically see in other fast food items, which is an essential nutrient for a weight loss plan.

The bad: Perkins' granny's country omelette came in at a stunning 1,980 calories, which is more than your daily amount for three meals if you are trying to stick to a sensible diet and exercise regimen. This omelette also featured three days' worth of the allotted amount of sodium you are supposed to consume.

Dessert
The good: Au Bon Pain is known for their delicate French bistro-inspired sweets, and their chocolate dipped cranberry almond coconut macaroon is a delightful - and less sugary - treat at 290 calories and 16 grams of fat. If you are looking to enjoy a little splurge and have a sweet tooth, this could be the perfect option for you.

The bad: By now, you know that cheesecake isn't probably the best menu item to pick out if you are trying to limit fat and calories, and the Cheesecake Factory's chocolate tower truffle cake is no exception. According to CNN, this dessert contains as many calories as three Big Macs - needless to say, you might want to share this item with at least four or five people if you don't want to wreck your weight loss results.

Pizza
The good: Surprisingly enough, Pizza Hut's hand-tossed veggie lovers pie contains just 180 calories and 6 grams of fat per serving, making it an excellent option the next time you have a pizza craving or want to order take out.

The bad: Even Sbarro's "healthy" veggie pizza had 640 calories and 30 grams of fat - which tells you clearly that looks can be deceiving. Remember that even if you still pile veggies on a dish, it won't always make up for the fat and calories that make up its base.

There's no reason why you can't enjoy a nice dinner out - just be sure that you stick to healthy choices and keep an eye on portion control. Remember: take out boxes are your friend.
